Hamlin Community Rallies to 'Spread Warmth' with Urgent Coat Drive for Local Kids
November 19, 2025
As winter approaches and temperatures begin to plummet, the Hamlin community has launched a critical coat drive aimed at ensuring every local child stays warm and cozy throughout the colder months. The initiative, framed by organizers as an effort to "spread some warmth and love," is appealing to residents to donate new coats or funds toward their purchase.
The Hamlin Coat Drive for Kids is seeking urgent support to meet the needs of families ahead of the holiday season and the onset of severe winter weather.
The need for community support is clear, organizers state. For many families, the cost of purchasing brand-new, high-quality winter coats for growing children presents a significant financial hurdle. This drive aims to eliminate that barrier, providing children with essential warmth and protection.
"This is a vital opportunity to show our community how big our hearts are," said a spokesperson for the drive. "Everything helps, whether it’s a brand-new coat or a few dollars towards one. We want every child to feel safe and protected from the cold."
How to Contribute
The drive is specifically seeking new coats of all sizes suitable for children, from toddlers through teens. Organizers emphasize that the quality and longevity of a new garment ensure maximum warmth and durability for the recipient.
For those unable to purchase a physical coat, monetary donations are also highly encouraged. These funds will be immediately directed towards the bulk purchase of necessary sizes that may be lacking in the donations pool.
Logistics and Deadline
All donations—both new coats and monetary contributions—must be dropped off at the designated collection point: The T Post.
Due to the urgency of preparing for the winter ahead, the community has set a firm deadline for contributions: Saturday, November 25th.
Organizers stress the importance of contributing before the deadline to allow adequate time for sorting, distributing, and purchasing additional coats to meet the total need before the worst of the cold weather arrives.
Community leaders are calling upon local businesses, organizations, and residents to participate actively in this effort, ensuring that no local child is left out in the cold this winter.
A healthy Jones County requires great community news.
