Hamlin Highlights — 2025 in Review

As 2025 comes to a close, the Hamlin community reflects on a year marked by community achievements in athletics and education, important civic actions, and moments that underscored the strength and resilience of our small-town spirit.

Community Comes Together in High School Sports Successes
Hamlin’s student athletes delivered an exciting year of competition and pride. The Hamlin Pied Pipers baseball team had a standout season, finishing with a **21-6 record and reaching the UIL Class A State Semifinal — the program’s deepest postseason run since 2003. Hamlin fell to Gordon in the state semis, but the achievement was a huge point of pride for players, coaches, families, and fans across town.
On the football front, the Pied Pipers enjoyed strong performances throughout the season, including a string of road victories that helped bolster community enthusiasm and school spirit.

Swift and Safe Resolution in Amber Alert Case
In a tense late-April incident that drew statewide attention, an Amber Alert was issued after 10-year-old Skylar Beach was reported missing in Hamlin. Law enforcement and area residents mobilized swiftly, and Skylar was found safe in Hamlin the following day — an outcome that brought relief to the community and highlighted the importance of prompt public cooperation with authorities.

Civic Progress: Council Meetings and Community Planning
Throughout the year, the Hamlin City Council met regularly to guide local policy and planning. Several council meetings — from spring elections planning to fall discussions about infrastructure and financial management — reflected active civic engagement by residents and local leaders.
In November, the council also addressed emerging community needs related to industrial growth and development — including water service agreements for a solar farm project south of Hamlin — showing how the town is preparing for economic opportunities ahead.
However, conversations also pointed to community concerns, such as the need for regulations around RV park locations within city limits, a topic that drew public commentary and highlighted the balance between growth and neighborhood quality of life.

Looking Forward: A Growing, Resilient Community
Hamlin enters 2026 with momentum and pride. The combination of athletic achievements, student milestones, positive resolutions to community concerns, and thoughtful civic planning illustrate a town that honors its roots while preparing for future opportunities.
Whether cheering on the Pied Pipers, engaging in local government, or welcoming new projects and neighbors, Hamlin continues to demonstrate the community strength that makes it “home” for so many.

Happy New Year, Hamlin — here’s to a bright 2026!
